This is an application for your support.

Roding Rifle and Pistol Club, an Community Amateur Sports Club, that shoots
Air Rifle, Air Pistol and Miniature .22lr Olympic disciplines;
wish to present to you their reason to continue shooting at the highest level of achievement.

This club has recently acquired a 15 year lease to underwrite the continued existence of their
rifle and pistol club at the :  Roding Centre, 50, Loughton Way, Buckhurst Hill, IG9 6AD.
This popular sporting and community Club has been active for over 70 years using a range built for the TA in the
mid-1930s. These facilities are outdated and the Club needs to upgrade to a modern building incorporating a Club
Room. The Club also wishes to broaden its appeal, especially to families and local youths. The Club has an
ambitious plan for development, based upon building a new precision target-shooting range and re-modeling an
existing building into a comfortable, attractive meeting room. This new project needs some sponsorship. We
already have planning permission to build a new range, meanwhile, membership has more than doubled in the last
year, which has been due to the efforts of a new General Secretary and his enthusiastic Treasurer, Committee
Members and support from local members of associated trades.

The overall project cost to build the new range complex is about £145,000 and so an application has been made to
SportEngland, the national development agency for sport, who distribute public money from our government and
the National Lottery.  “SportEngland is committed to creating opportunities for people to start in sport, stay in sport
and succeed in sport”. Even if SportEngland is not able to help, the Club will still need to raise “matching-funds”.
The club has already dipped heavily into its “development fund” of £24,000 – but members have recently brought
the fighting fund to £ 24,740. They are currently raising money with inter-club competitions and local community
based competitions, raffles, women’s and junior competitions and a wealth of social events involving its 90-odd
members and their much-larger network of supporters and partners. Currently they are supported by the local Air
Cadets and will expand this to other youth movements once the new range is built. The Club is making approaches
to selected individuals; private foundations and trusts; also local suppliers and manufacturers, for their further
sponsorship and financial support. The Club is already grateful to two local construction companies, for their
generosity so far.

Their appeal is going out to all other local and associated businesses because we believe that you may have a
keen interest in helping projects involving youth, communities and sport and so we very much hope that you will
help
us, with a contribution towards our initial target of £50,000.

The whole development plan is being managed by Tony Walsh, the General Secretary of the Club and an expert
team of Coaches and members, who include County, National, and International medalists.

The project complies with Home Office build and safety standards and has the support of the local authorities who
have donated the land to build on. Planning permission has been granted and a 25 year lease for the new range is
now at hand. The club wishes to get on and build the two new buildings immediately, for they want to make a
contribution towards the Met’s Youth Crime Aversion Program, by offering youths somewhere to learn an Olympic
discipline.

The secured 25 year lease on local land, will allow a dedicated Target Sports Centre to be built with the help of
expert RAF designers. This twelve point range will become an addition to our existing five point range. Recent
sponsors, including a world-class Bank and Tilbury Construction Limited who have generously helped with specialist
acoustic paneling, lighting, ceilings and furnishings.   However, we have still to find £50,000 towards the new
building costs and a further £38,000 for the necessary Olympic standard high-tech electronic target and scoring
systems. Yearly running-costs are about £9,000, which is currently underwritten by the clubs membership
subscriptions and range-fees, although we should also like to invest in a program to train new coaches, estimated at
further £14,600.00 p.a. per coach and we would like to have two coaches available.

Britain has a legacy of success in precision target-shooting disciplines to uphold!  The Club’s certificated Range
Controlling Officers and Coaches are willing to give their time to develop individual and team abilities. The skills and
disciplines taught and learnt here are life-long too – our youngest Member is 8 years of age and we have Veterans
in their 80s.

The club wishes to offer their new supporters appropriate exposure in their Hall-of-Fame at the Club House and
also run your dedicated adverts in a quarterly “Newsletter”and on their web site. www.rodingrifleandpistolclub.org
Your exposure could also be continued via bespoke commemorative trophies for the precision target sport
competitions which are awarded at our annual awards ceremony.

In addition the Club would offer supporters tasteful references of your assistance in any media coverage for the
forthcoming activities of the Club, and its role in preparing Olympic contestants in 3 disciplines, especially as the
London Olympiad draws closer. It takes 3-4 years to train a disciplined target sports winner! They intend to aim high
and support their youth members to achieve a place in the Olympic selection squad.

The club officers would happy to respond to any questions. Please help them to build a stronger, local community of
committed volunteers who support their active approach in promoting sport for all and their ethic of, ‘everyone is
welcome’.
